Anyone have any problems with a video on demand (.flv file)
starting and
then quiting as soon as the initial player buffer runs out?
The
red5.log doesn't report anything at all. The status on the
player never
says anything but buffer empty, no stop or error.

More info:
Video recorded on miniDV tape, captured and rendered as a
raw
(uncompressed AVI).
Original size 720x480
Final AVI size approx 4 Gig, 320x240 resize, progressive
scan, with
interleave
AVI is then encoded to VP6 using Flash Encoder8 to a .flv
file
Resulting size 320x240
400k stream size
Placed on edge/origin cluster and played though Flash 8
player movie.
Tried it on a standalone dist as well with same results.
Other video's recorded on other DV cams at another time (of
similar or
larger size) work fine.
Re-rendered the original video as a .mov instead of .avi and
it improved
this problem dramatically.
Anyone with any ideas what would cause this?

Hi Bill,
I'm trying to solve this problem myself right now. I have the same problem with flvs recorded by Red5 as well as by videos that have been recorded on tape, captured and encoded to flv like you. I'm at a loss as to what's causing this.

I have seen the problem on both the current trunk and our
production
version (svn version 2538).

Hi Dominic,
Did you turn up any info on this when you check it? I'm still having the problem with VOD stopping sometimes. I'm using v0.7.
Thanks, Sean

I updated to the latest trunk today and the VOD stopping is
still
there. I have managed to work around it i think, and I
thought the
work-around might shed some light on the problem if someone
knows what
to look for.
I have an origin /edge cluster. When I play the VOD via an
edge with
rtmp, it plays for about the length of the buffer and then
freezes -
never to begin again (it's like it fills it's buffer once
and then never
gets any more data).
When I force it to use rtmpt through the origin server, the
results are
much better and it seems to play well.

Is this also happening for standalone setups ? I believe
this may also
be happening for normal standalone setups aswell as im
getting a
complaint about it but i can't see it myself. Do you get the
inactivity errors which may be disconnecting you ?
