I accidently sent this post to the OSFlash lst... I apologise to anyone who may be subscribed to both >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
OK, red5 newbie here... trying to install red5 on my CentOS 5 server
and running into problems (won't insult you by asking for help here...
I find I learn more when beating forehead against screen
BUT
it has lead me to think, what is the best OS for red5, for both ease of
installation and running? Reason I ask is that I'm hoping to start on a
pretty big project next month and red5 could be playing a part for what
I had in mind. What are your opinions?
Regards
Adam

1 vote of confidence for FC6(however from the trunk, it
looks like
there's has been more deployment work done for debian. The
rmp part of
the build script as been largely abandoned for a while)

Ive started replacing our 32bit windows 2003 servers with
64bit 2003
servers, running the 64bit JRE, ive also started to mess
with more
java args like "-server". I believe the 32bit JRE
doesnt include the
server dll's only the JDK and 64bit JRE does.
I can now allocate more than 2GB to the heap which will help
if the
metadata caching is added again, with large traffic ive sent
it use up
to 1.6GB before i had to reboot so it grows it seems when
using memory
caching.

Im also running red5 on ubuntu gutsy 64bit. Fedora is Redhat based correct ? Debian based linux most definitely ! I work with FreeBSD for everything web serving PHP/Apache however but I can not vouch for it's Java implementation. On 29/03/2008 , at 5:42 AM, Prabhu Tamilarasan (omNovia) wrote:
