Sure thing, I always like forwarding mails of happy users to
other
developers

Joachim
Hi Joachim,

I downloaded Red5 just to try it out and see...
I was not expecting much since it was made by
reverse-engineering
stuff that Adobe/Macromedia don't want to make open (yet),
but
surprise, surprise, it worked straight out of the box! Just
like that!

I had a very minor problem with the Flex2-Red5 chat
application (had
to delete the SharedObject persistence file manually), but I
think
that is just because the server-side demo code is not being
careful
about disconnecting clients? Not sure...I'm just a beginner
yet.

Oh, and also, I faced bug #213 :
http://mirror1.cvsdude.com/trac/osflash/red5/ticket/213
But surprise again! I could incorporate your fix/changeset
and get it
working again in minutes!

This should not be taken for granted by users : I've seen
Open Source
projects in which either
a) the attitude of the developers is : 'Prove it! It works
for me!',
i.e., refusal to improve
or
b) they just ignore the bug or
c) fix it but don't use the revision control/communication
system and
inform the users

So the first pleasant surprise was to see the code working
so well out
of the box.
The second was the professional development approach.

Thanks a lot for this! I hope I make your efforts worthwhile
by doing
something useful with Red5.

Please do pass this on to the red5 dev mailing list.

Regards,
Vijay
