Wake on LAN and 4.4

I'm new to the mail list so please let me know if this is
not the right
place for this type of question.

I am using WOL to power up some Dells.  Since patching to
4.4, something
keeps disabling WOL.  I put a hack into /etc/init.d/halt:

  LANG=C runcmd "Enabling Wake On LAN: "
/sbin/ethtool -s eth0 wol g

to re-enable it any time I shut down the machine.  Any idea
what is
disabling the NIC and what is the appropriate way to prevent
it?
