I guess no one ran into this problem before then? Doesn't
this seem
strange? I can't think of what else to try, maybe its a
bug?

I've noticed a strange NFS problem between 2 RHEL 4 U3
x86_64 servers.
It seems like it cannot see the bigger file, even though its
there. And
now the 2 files are still on the NFS server even after it
had removed
them, but when I mount the NFS share, from the client I can
only see the
big file remaining.

on the NFS server:

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2.1M Aug 29 02:02
backup-Aug-29-2006.tar.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 735M Aug 29 02:09
database-Aug-29-2006.tar.gz

# cat /etc/exports
# Exported filesystems

/mnt/backups 192.168.43.0/24(rw,sync,no_root_squash)

On the NFS Client:

mount 192.168.43.20:/mnt/backups /mnt/citysupport

# date
Tue Aug 29 04:02:06 PDT 2006

# ls -l /mnt/citysupport
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2119801 Aug 29 02:02
/mnt/citysupport/backup-Aug-29-2006.tar.gz

This is running from crontab at 4am, well after the files
were created
on the server, yet it doesn't see the big file. The script
deleted the
contents of the directory, then unmounted. If I mount it
manually right
now, it'll only show me the database-Aug-29-2006.tar.gz,
even though
both files are still on the server!
