Sound on Dell Latitude D820

Hi,

Does anybody have sound working on a Dell Latitude D820
laptop with a EL4 
kernel > 2.6.9-34.0.2.ELsmp  (update3).  I filled a
bugzilla on it:

Strange that I can reboot into update3 kernel and sound
works, but 
anything newer, doesn't.

I must be doing something wrong.  Anybody let me off the
hook?

I don't think you doing anything wrong, my D820 had the same
problem
back when I was running RHEL4 (I've since switched to FC6
and sound
works fine).  My solution at the time was to replace the
drivers with
the latest ALSA drivers using the packages available at the
following
page:

http://people
.redhat.com/stransky/alsa/

I actually followed the "compile it yourself"
instructions but I suspect
the binary packages would be fine as well.
