I only rename the /var/lib/rpm to /var/lib/rpm.old, try the
initdb, it create the /var/lib/rpm folder again, and rpm -qa
still no result. Rename the /var/lib/rpm, run the rpm
command recreate the /var/lib/rpm directory with the same
content.

I have try copy back the old rpm directory, do a 'rm
/var/lib/rpm/__*', then rebuild the db, still no result.

The message you mention is lost of package, on my server, it
does not return any package.

Li Hao

You've killed the contents of RPM database by removing
/var/lib/rpm. No
amount of --rebuilddb is going to fix that.

You probably could have fixed the original problem by 'rm
/var/lib/rpm/__*'

One can only guess what is left in your /var/lib/rpm,
perhaps you've
killed your RPM database with earlier attempts. Add option
-vv and try
rpm -vv --rebuilddb to get some debug output of what the
command
does. You can add the option to other commands, too.

There were a few messages I posted just last week that would
show how
you could have had this problem fixed.
