Hello,
I m new to linux.
I am wrkin on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Desktop (v. 5 for 64-bit x86_64) .

1. I want to download following packages.
glibc-headers 0 not installed
glibc-devel 0 not installed
libstdc++ 0 not installed
gcc 2.96 not installed
gcc-c++ 2.96 not installed
rpm-build 0 not installed

when I install related name files on system, it ask me for depended packages to install first. How Can I know the related pakages from before, and the SEQUENCE to install them.
Upto now I have install, 30 files but none of them is istalled properly.

2.second question:
can I use fedora rpm files in Red hat...??

3.How to disable the beep on the time of login..?

Thanks,
DKENGG

Use yum or rhn to install the packages.

For example:

yum install glibc-devel

Yum will take care of installing glibc-devel and all of the
dependencies.

You will likely need to rebuild fedora packages on redhat.
You can also
get unsupported (by Redhat) fedora packages that have
already been
rebuilt on a RedHat system at: http://
download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/

type 'yum install package1 package2 package3' to install
package1 package2 and
package3

yum will handle this for you.

yum is the proper way to install these files.

You should only use RPMS intended for your distribution with
it.  I would not
use Fedora RPMS in RHEL unless you know exactly what you are
doing.

To disable the beep from your internal speaker, you can add
"alias pcspkr off"
to /etc/modprobe.conf
