Hi everybody, I fell upon this group and instantly joined. I have been red since I don't know
when. So far I haven't developed any other symptoms (knock on wood) but I am irritatingly
red. I'm the red girl of the group. Anyway, I saw this group when I was looking for
information on the ocean and skin redness.

I'm from Arizona where it's very dry and very hot, but around New Year's I was in Hollywood,
and started to notice that I wasn't as red, by the end of my trip I wasn't red at all. Someone
even told me I had pretty skin. We had to come back (I only cried a little ;) )and I got red
again. In the middle of summer I get pretty close to purple.

I was wondering if anyone had this experience too?! I was thinking if it was the humidity I
could use humidifiers or if it was the salty air I would maybe use a humidifier with salt
water!?!?!!? Can you even do that?

On another note, since I'm asking for info I'll leave some too. Eucerin Redness Relief! SO far it
is the ONLY thing in my arsenal that helps. I know a lot of you have already talked about it,
but I thought I would add that I like it too!

Thanks! Happy to be here!

HI B, and welcome to the group. What amazing results you got in California! If you check on some older posts you will see a fairly long chat we had on the ocean and rosacea. Seems a fair amount of members notice things clearing up when they spend time in the ocean. And it didn't seem to matter which ocean. IT was a very fun conversation. Not sure humidity has much to do with anything. I do notice that I need my humidifier funning 24/7 in the New England winters (still have it on by the way). But that is mostly for the comfort of my skin all over my body; not so much the face. And we do have very humid summers here in New England and while my skin seems to do better in the summer, it's nothing to write home about so to speak. Could be the ocean as I do not like the ocean and tend more towards lakes and pools (I could learn to love the ocean though if I got such good results!). Anyway, again welcome; although I am sorry for your condition.

Take care,
Elena

Erin

Welcome to the forum. Many people find that their skin gets better when humidity is
higher. I certainly get worse in the winter when the central heating gets turned on and the
humidiity levels fall (I also get bad if I spend too long in air conditioning environment). I
would recommend that you get a humidifer and see if it works for you (or perhaps you
could borrow one?).

As for salt, again people often improve when they go on holiday by the sea. It could be
the salt water or just perhaps the reduced levels of stress. A while ago there was a thread
on using water softners which you may like to search for the the archives.

As for adding salt to the humidifier, I'm not sure but I think it would ruin the machine
pretty quickly.

Best wishes

Sarah
