HI Jon,
Well said! Come back anytime you feel you do have something to share with us, please. It's funny, but a few days ago I was simply too tired to do my usual nightly routine of washing with Eucerin Redness Relief and then putting on some organic coconut oil (which has been a big help), and the next day, my skin was actually better! I woke up and it was less tight and dry. So I did it again just to see, and got the same results. I have certainly learned that less is more with my skin but really I thought I was doing about as "less" as anyone could do. Imagine my surprise. So, now at night I am leaving my skin bare after washing with the Eucerine. In the morning I am using my homemade ointment which has really seemed to help the most out of any thing I have ever put on my face (prescription, store bought or other stuff I "made"). Anyway, I wish you continued good progress and please join in anytime you feel.
Take care,
Elena

I wanted to thank everyone on this group for some good advice. I
joined the group a while back after the minor rosacea I've had for
years suddenly flared up with a vengence in the form of "bumps"
(postules & papules). Very scary. I started on Finacea which totally
wiped out the bumps almost immediately. (The Finacea didn't help with
redness, though, so I stopped it after several weeks.)
After joining and reading posts here, I started using Cetaphil bar to
gently wash my face once a day. I've also become more aware of
possible triggers - food and drink, irritants I'm exposed to,
allergies, etc.
I've never felt more "in control" of my skin before. The Cetaphil
alone really helps - prior to that I never used any soap as every
soap I tried made my rosacea worse.
I also have sebderm slightly... when that acts up I use ZNP bar and
it's gone. I found a decent moisturizer but use it only rarely when
my skin gets very dry.
I'm going to leave the group because I feel I have very little to add
to the discussions here... except for this (a parting shot):
I think the minimalist approach is the best. Everyone is looking for
that magic pill or lotion that will eliminate rosacea but that
doesn't exist yet. (If it did, we'd all be using it!) The truth is
that the more stuff you put on your skin or in your body, the greater
the chance that one of those things will actually cause irritation
and make your rosacea worse.
I see posts from people trying all kinds of strange home remedies,
expensive "snake oil" cures and prescription medications that their
doctor has not prescribed. I've even seen people talk about using
their own urine in one form or another (not sure if that was here or
on a sebderm forum - I didn't read it too closely!).
Your body has the ability to heal itself if you can give it a hand
eliminating whatever it is that's irritating it in the first place.
Keep your skin protected from the sun, clean, moisturized (if
needed), and avoid exposure to anything that makes your rosacea
worse. If you try a remedy, do ONE thing at a time and keep a close
tab on how it works. If it doesn't work, stop doing it before you try
something else!
If anyone has any questions for me, feel free to e-mail. I'd be happy
to help.
Good luck!
Jon
