Well last night I used mineral oil thinking I would give it a go. I suspected it would irritate my face and so it did. I have tried jojoba oil, emu oil, and a moisturizer from Avalon Organics that has borage oil in it. My face does not like any of them. I've been using MD Forte' Replenish Hydrating Cleanser, it is soap free, oil free and paraben free. Comes out really creamy and feels nice. Cleans fantastic. I never have anything left on my face after using it. You don't have to do much rubbing to get it to work, and it doesn't take very much either. I have also used very mild gentle cleansers like Neutrogena's Extra Gentle Cleanser, which while it feels nice doesn't clean that well. So I think I'm giving up on any type of oil on my face.

Regarding cleansing with oil, this editorial was very eye-opening.

Although I don't share the opinion about Paula Begoun, I learned from this that your face should be dry when you first apply the oil, so skipping step #1 may be more effective. Also, I found that I have to repeat steps #5 and #6 (rinse and blot with fresh dry cotton pad) two or three times to be sure my face feels and looks soft, but not oily afterwards.

"Cleansing Oils: A Godsend, But Elusive
Cleansing oils have been a staple of Asian skin care regimen for a
very long time, but have yet to become a mainstream product in the
U.S. Which is too bad, because when it comes to removing makeup,
cleansing oil is simply the best.
First of all, it's oil. Since it's oil, it will break down and melt
away just about anything you've painted your face with, with as little
friction as possible.......
....To use cleansing oil, you must make sure your face and hands are
dry. Gently rub a small amount into your face and work off all your
makeup with your fingers; because it's oil, it will remove every trace
of your tackiest makeup, including waterproof eye makeup. Seriously,
this stuff will remove clown makeup. In fact, it will remove all the
black from your face after a day of coal-mining........
