If you decide to try, I'm thinking it may be safer to use the lighter
mineral oil instead of the Vaseline since it has made you red in the
past. Mineral oil is liquid/oil consistency, whereas Vaseline is an
ointment/thick consistency.

So, maybe a light layer of mineral oil on the skin can be beneficial,
and perhaps a layer of thick Vaseline has more potential to cause
problems..

For example, I know mineral oil shampoos out of hair pretty easily.
Vaseline, however, makes a big goopy mess and is almost impossible to
wash out. I know this because I tried to use Vaseline to treat my
son's cradle cap. Mistake! I actually had to use mineral oil to
dissolve the Vaseline out of his hair. So, you see, they are similar
but also quite different.

My guess is that mineral oil has a better chance of being helpful.

OK, I went out on a limb and used the vaseline... I just closed my
eyes and hoped for the best... lol... and surprisingly NO RED!!! I
thought surely by morning my face would be flared... NOPE! NOTHING!
ZILCH!! Of course I'd had the bad time when I was younger with the
petro jelly and was convinced that I would never be able to use it...
guess I was wrong, it must have just been a coincidence... I'm
impressed... I liked the way my skin felt this morning.... smooth..
Haven't had that in a couple of weeks.. the old seb derm kicked in
and I was at a loss for what to do next... that's why I had gone to
using olive oil.. I've purchase a bottle of that OTC Nizoral...
Hoping to kick this yeast in the butt.. Looks like I might be
returning the Nizoral... who knows... I know that stuff is a bit
harsh to use on facial skin... I had used it once along time ago for
ringworm that was on my shoulder.. and it worked great... so I may
just shelve the Nizoral so that if the mineral oil/petro jelly stops
working I can try something else.
Thanks for the info.
Have a great day!!!
