I have found that the python software foundation license is
also known
as the Python 2.1.1 license. This is mentioned on the free
software
foundations web pages about licenses. Here's what they say:

GNU GPL.
Please note, however, that intermediate versions of
Python (1.6b1,
through 2.0 and 2.1)
are under a different license.

So it looks like there should be no problem. However, the
author of
html2text thought there might be a problem including
html2text in a
roundup distribution and he's not the only one that thought
that. So I
have also asked for clarification from the FSF (is there
anyone I
*haven't* talked to..??!!?!?!). Sorry to keep banging on
about this but
I would like to know what the rules are for combining GPL'd
code with
python projects that use the python software foundation
license. I think
that most python projects will probably just be released
with the python
software foundation license so there will not be a problem.
But clearly,
not everything is.
Also, I have released a few projects myself on sourceforge,
albeit in
C++. These were released under the GPL. If I do anything in
python (and
I do have a project in mind) then this will settle the issue
as to which
license I use.
I promise I'll be quiet now until I hear from the html2text
author
and/or the FSF.
