Thread: Volunteer to test MacOSX on PowerPC-based Mac

Volunteer to test MacOSX on PowerPC-based Mac
user name

Hello,

I have replaced 2 Mac-specific files on the SVN that seemed
to be
corrupted (?!). One is essential to launch SIP-Communicator,
so I'd
like to know if someone could test a package equal or above
build 794
on a PowerPC-based MAC and tell me if it runs fine. On my
Intel-based
MAC it seems to be OK.

Thanks,
romain

Hi Martin,

Great, thank you!
Just one more question: did the Sip-Communicator icons
appears as
expected in the MacOSX top bar?

Hey Romain,

unfortunately, no icon in the top bar (ToT)
Is it possible to fix that?

My first guess was that code compiled on one architecture
(the dmg
generator is on a PowerPC computer) had this problem on
another
architecture (I could not see the icon in the top bar on my

macintel), but now it's the other way around: the code is
still
compiled on the PowerPC computer, but the icon can only be
seen on an
Intel one.

So I think this comes from a specific file called
"JavaApplicationStub" that needs to be included in
the MacOSX
packages. Initially I took it from a PowerPC computer, but
changed it
with one from an Intel computer in the last packages (the
file on the
repository was corrupted, I replaced it with the one I had
on my
computer).

So I'm not sure how to handle that yet, I'll investigate
that.

cheers,
Romain

Hi,

I think I have fixed that issue which was actually coming
from a bad
path to one Mac native lib needed for the systray. It works
fine on
my macintel, could anyone (Martin?) try on a powerpc one?
(eg with an
alpha3 build).

Hey Romain,

Did you manage to successfully receive messages with SC on
your Mac?
There has been a long standing issue with message reception
on Mac OS X
and Yana once mentioned that it was systray related. I was
wondering
whether your fix also addresses this issue.

Hi Romain, Emil,

I confirm that the systray works well on my powerpc based
macinthosh and
that I can receive messages with SC.

Thanks Romain for fixing it!

Actually the problem with message reception is quite seldom,
so it
may not be fixed yet. I'll have more tests today before
closing the
issue.

Report the problem here if you notice it (in that
case you'll
also see an exception from JDIC).
