Hi Thomas,

Problems like this one are quite difficult to diagnose. I
know people
have been successfully using SC on MAC so this is definitely
not a
general Mac OS issue.

Try going through the SIP Communicator log files
($HOME/.sip-communicator/log/) and check if you see any
exceptions. You
may also try to download the all Java version of JMF (you
can get it
here: http://java.sun.com/jmf)
and use the JMStudio to try and record
audio. Depending on the results we'll then try to decide
what to next.

For some good reasons (that I don't remember right now  ) on MAC 

OSX the SC logs are stored in the application package. To
check them,  
right-click on the SC.app, "Show Package
Contents", then the logs are  
in Contents/Resources/Java/log/
