Review: Anti Psychiatric forces might be well served to be
aware of this
movie. It seems unfortunate that the trailer to this movie
makes it appear
like
just another horror story. However, The Exorcism of Emily
Rose is based on
a true story. Much of the movie takes place in the
Courtroom where the
prosecutor insists that the only treatment is the medical
model and the DSM
(Diagnostic Statistical Manual). Once again, this is
another movie
communicating a
message to society about how the system gets away with
forcing medical
treatment on us, disregarding our personal beliefs and
personhood. I don't
want
to take away any surprises, but in one scene an expert
witness (remember
this
is based on a true story)
tells the Court that the drug Emily is taking anesthetizes
the brain.
(Sounds like an SSRI) She goes so far as to accuse the drug
company of
wrongdoing;
(Not for children)
Pass it on to your lists...it is nice to know Hollywood is
speaking up on
the issue.
