Description:
ITS Corporation requires an experienced Java programmer to develop and modify computer programs for analyzing fish populations and marine ecosystems. The candidate should have extensive knowledge using Java with connections (via JDBC) to databases in SQLServer, MySQL, and HSQL. The candidate must have demonstrated experience with Java programming and application design and testing, JDBC, SQL, and the Eclipse environment. Familiarity with OpenSource libraries for mathematical functions (e.g. Colt libraries from CERN) and graphing (e.g. JFreeChart) is desirable. These are stand alone programs with graphical interfaces used as tools by biologists and other researchers. The contractor must have experience with environmental computer models, basic statistics, and the principles of mathematical simulation. The computer programs involve large-scale Monte Carlo simulations, so code must be developed to run efficiently, and include programming with multiple
threads to take advantage of multi-processor computers. Contractor will work closely with biologists and other scientists in addition to other programmers and database developers.
