modelling 'optional' attributes and

Hi, Eric
Then we have done this action item
But I have another issues in the similar
domain: when 'lifting" HL7 CDA (clinical document architecture) XSD
to OWL ontology and mapping to RIM Ontology. I don't know how to
handle the "optional" attributes and their default values, e.g.
<xs:attribute name="classCode"
type="ActClassObservation" use="optional" default="OBS"/>
I am told it can not be done in OWL,
but I saw TBL's notes on "expressing default value using log:semantics
and log:notIncludes" [1]. I appreciate if Alan or anyone can share
experiences if they had encountered a similar problem.
Thanks.
Helen.

Alan,
Based on the notes (http://www.w3.org/2006/10/03-hcls-minutes.html), there
was a discussion on HL7 qualifiers, and that perhaps Helen should consider
using Enumerated classes instead of controlled vocab. This was new to her,
and you had stated you would explain it to her-- hence the action item
to ensure she was pointed to the proper material for assessing enumerated
owl classes.
It's actually a small item, just to make sure she can apply your insights....

Regarding this, Helen and I don't really know how it came about that we
have the following action item?
Helen Chen and Alan Ruttenberg: Assess whether enumerable classes can be
used to handle controlled vocabularies ala HL7 qualifiers.
We hadn't discussed it at the f2f. Do you know the genesis of this?
