Gateway laptop wont turn on off the power supply

Hi friends,

I have a gateway laptop with a very weird problem.
It turns on if it is disconnected from the power cord, only using the
battery. When I connect it to the cord and unplug the battery it wont turn
on. Randomly it will turn on just one second or two and goes off right away.

Any idea?
