This link tells you how to restore it:
<http://ask-leo.com/how_do_i_restore_the_outlook_express_icon_on_my_desktop.html>
<quote>
recreating the link manually:
right click on the desktop, Select New, Shortcut, and then browse to
locate Outlook Express's .exe file. THAT's not obvious, but it's
msimn.exe (form Microsoft Internet Mail and News - Outlook Express's
old name), and is most likely in C:program filesoutlook express.

Or you can also open "My Computer", then "C:", then "Program Files",
then "Outlook Express" and then right click on "msimn.exe" and choose
"Send to Desktop (create shortcut)".
Once you have it on the Desktop you can right click on "shortcut to
msimn.exe" and choose "Properties" and in the "General" Tab change the
name to "OE" and click OK.
To recap: Click My Computer>C:>Program Files>Outlook Express>and Rt.
Click on msimn.exe>Send to Desktop
