AVG 8 error message

I downloaded and installed AVG8 2 days ago. All components are listed as
active. However, in the 2 scans that have been performed I have received this
message.

The scan log is corrupted (scan has not finished properly).

I did try to upgrade to AVG8 a few weeks ago and the same thing happened so
I reverted to AVG7.5

I know that quite a few people have had problems with AVG8 and maybe I
should consider a different system. I believe that another recomended system is
called something like Alvira. Please advise. Should I dump AVG and try something
completely new?

Many thanks,
Chris

If you look in the internet by Googling, a lot of issues have arisen
with AVG and its newest version. I'm sure it will all be ironed out,
eventually.

ITMT, I've chosen to use Avira. Mind you, I was always a strong
supporter of Grisoft.

Avast is another choice, but Avira seems to have the best ratings
according to this:

It does have a nag screen which can be disabled:

The registry work around mentioned at the end in the above link did
not work for me, BTW.

My biggest issue with AVG 8 is that it will delete entire ZIP files if
a virus is found within. No confirmation is asked, and the ZIP file
is deleted outright, not stored in the Vault.

I lost some email because of this (and due to bad timing with an
automated backup system I use, I spent an entire morning trying to
recover some of what I'd lost).

I'd like to use AVG but I couldn't find a way to turn this off, so I
uninstalled it. I guess I'll have to wait a few months for them to
fix this, then install latest version. I suppose I can test it by
putting "Eicar" in a ZIP file...
