But that solution led us to e-mail spamming, as the mail sending utility wasn't sure enough and allowed attackers to inject sendmail headers and use our servers to spam others, which is even worse! Now we have configured our sendmail and managed to control the situation. Complex solution =========== You could use http://captchas.net/ to let them generate the captchas for you. But you know, many users hate them. Simple solution ========== Why don't you develop a simple home made captcha system, based in a dozen of silly questions with known answers? for example adding extra form fields to your addPostingForm with questions like: - Write down number 2 in letters: - Which is the first name of George W. Bush? -  2 + 2 ? - ... You could prepare 10 questions like that and then modify them quickly if someone manages to program the answers. They will do it twice, and will forget you the third time you modify the silly questions. Simplest and definitive one ================== This solution could be implemented in the basic Squishdot: just parsing and adding a rel="nofollow" to every link shown in titles and body of comments. No one would be interested on programming a robot to spam on Squishdot sites.
