You may want to read this thread regarding SANS:

ttp://svn.haxx.se/users/archive-2005-01/1331.shtml
It appears as though you should be fine using a SAN using a
central storage
location assuming you use FSFS instead of BDB.
Beyond that, without knowing more details of the
configuration of your
clustered environment, we probably can't give you a very
good answer as to
the viability of your question.
However, if instead you were planning on having multiple
storage points, SVN
does not support that (however, SVK, the link I provided
earlier does).

Subject: RE: question
Thanks so much for getting back to me. We have Subversion
is installed on a
Sun server (v480), running Solaris 9. We have to
periodically take the
server down for patching/maintenance. And what if a cpu
goes out or it
needs another part replaced? Anyway, we want to have the
data respoitory
installed on a SAN. Our production servers run in a
clustered environment
which means we can roll the application to any of the
servers in the cluster
without experiencing any downtime.
So you're saying this isn't possible?

It sounds like what you're looking for is repository
replication (multiple
servers, same data) in which case SVN doesn't support this.
(Though SVK,
which is built on top of Subversion does: http://svk.elixus.org/)
Maybe it would be good for me to ask ... why exactly do you
need to take the
server down? Is this a frequent event? And if so, why?

When one server needs to be taken down I need Subversion
data files to
be accessed on the second server.
Can anyone direct me to the appropriate documentation?
