Hi,

I've just checked-of the last item off my TODO list. It's
been more than 8 months now since the last official
TaskJuggler release. High-time to get a new version out.

The 2.3.0 work was mostly driven by requests from users. I
don't think there was ever a release where I did receive so
much positive feedback, requests and even patches. Great
work! A big thanks to everyone who has helped to improve
TaskJuggler.

Lot's of people have downloaded the SVN snapshots recently.
There were not that many big changes the last few months, so
I think the beta test period for 2.3.0 will be rather
painless. We'll see. I'll put out 2.3.0-beta1 in a few
days. Please give it a try and report all issues in our Bug
Forum.

If you are not yet subscribed to the release announcements,
please do so now. Then, you won't miss the announcements as
they will only be announced there.

I compiled TaskJuggler 2.3.0 beta 1 on a Debian
"Testing" installation and it works fine. It's
much faster at scheduling (I believe it has something to do
with the dependency loop checking, because it used to stall
for a few seconds on that operation.)

I especially like that the UI doesn't draw dependency
arrows anymore for sub-tasks that inherited the dependency.

The only thing I changed to the source is a cosmetic one, in
TjGanttChart::allTasksInterval(), I reverted the 10% add to
the interval duration to 5%, to save some screen space.

By the way, it would be nice to be able to generate, without
the UI, PDF files of the Gantt charts. Is it a feature you
would consider adding sometime?

Thanks for this great piece of software!

There are indeed some significant speed improvements in
2.3.0. I needed to go to 10% margins since some of the
printed reports had problems with only 5%.

The printing code needs KDE libraries. I don't want the
commandline version to have KDE dependencies. That's why
only the GUI can print. This will probably be fixed once we
go to Qt4.
