OS:
MS Windows XP v2002 SP2
Device:
MS Wireless Optical Mouse 2000

06/03/07 plugged device into USB loc 0, batteries installed in mouse
06/04/07 pressed all communication restor buttons on wireless

I can unplug the original (Ps2) mouse reboot, but then I have no mouse,
no matter what sequence of plugging/ unplugging of mice or rebooting:
any suggestions?

My husband's PC Not Working - This email is from him

I have two computer's, actually, neither one is
working. I need to get on the internet and can't.
The first one has a 2000 office screen I can't get
past the log in on. It has an administrator
screenname and a password I don't know so can't get
past. For all I know I could get on if I could get
past this screen. It only has a floppy drive and no
disc drive so I can't really reboot with another disc
even if I had one. The person who gave it to me
claimed he had several but in his opinion this was the
best of the lot. He didn't or couldn't get past this
screen either. Any recommendations or help?
The second one had an unmountanle boot volume I think
it was. It was suggested I reboot with the XP windows
disk which I didn't have since it was used and bought
at a yard sale. I did get ahold of a winows XP disc
and it was sucessful at getting the computer working
however when I tried to get online it couldn't find a
dial up. I also had no sound. I came to the
conclusion that I was missing drivers. I was later
told that I couldn't just reload with windows XP I
also needed to find the drivers.and upload them. I
could ,supposedly, find these written on the
motherboard. Well I, myself,am not a techie and don't
understand how to link computers together let alone
find the motherboard or this information so I
couldn't do this. They told me they could do this but
it would cost me a minimum of $60 and as much as $120.

I only have $40 dolars in it right now so I don't want
to spend too much just to get online. Are there any
easy resolutions that wouldn't cost me any extra cost
or not as much cost? I only want to get a computer
running so I can get online. Any help would be
greatly appreciated. Thank you in advancw and I hope
to be joining your commmunity on my own very soon.

Have you tried other USB ports ? If so, and the wireless mouse refuses
to work then it may be faulty but before you decide that check if the
mouse and receiver unit have channel switches - if so, make sure they
are both set the same.

Reading some reviews it appears that the range isn't too good so you
cannot have the receiver unit too far from the mouse and also a CRT
monitor emits enough interference that certain screen refresh rates
will prevent it working. Suspect other wireless devices in the area
such as mobile phones will similarly upset it.

If you still cannot get it working - is it in warranty ? If so then
have it replaced.

PS - have you another PC you can test it on ( even a friend's PC ) ?
