Looked at this file's p[roperties and it says sosmething about Space
Research Company of California.
That's about as much as I can find using Google.
Does anyone have any idea what this file is supposed to do?
Cheers

Did you run Google Earth? Buddy of mine has his robotic camera software on
its way to the polar caps of Mars. We've been teasing him his software is
going to freeze! LOL Please remember, unless some scan says something is
bad, .dll's are Data Link Libraries and could be used a number of ways with
programs and windows. What OS and how did you come to find it?

Did someone run a game? WIFI internet? As long as it is not showing in any
program as spyware addaware ect... it will not hurt the OS. I just searched
and it is not here on xp sp2, but this machine has had so much demo ect..
ran on it, Win directory is 1 gig +. Windows just leaves stuff behind when
you uninstall things, even a dead folder in Program Files. One day they
will get it right, thus we are loaded with Win Experts with programs to
fix/hack M$. I just leave them and go on.

This is part of the Distributed Computing network where spare power of
personal computers is used to tackle problems such as finding a cure
for aids, cancer, alzheimer etc by a using computational chemistry.

We've run these things here for a number of years now and you don't
really notice them at all as the use the 'spare' CPU cycles to do
their work. It does have an impact on the computer as the CPU will be
running flat out at 100% for 100% of the time so you have to be sure
your cooling is up to it or you'll overheat.

So - if you have BOINC installed it should be set to run when the PC
starts up and will do its job quietly in the background, but you can
check on the number of 'units' you have crunched and there's some
fancy graphics to look at which mean absolutely nothing <lol>;

Does this answer the question ?

But I don't really know how it would have got there in the first place.

It had to be installed at some time or other and it's only ever used
on this program, so if you or anyone else who uses this system doesn't
run any distributed computing applications then it's safe to delete
the file. However on it's own it isn't going to do anything so it's
also safe to leave it there
