Thanks for all the great suggestions. Even talked with a microsoft tech for about 2 hours and we tried everything. He is to call me back Monday morning, but now I don't need him. Had a copy of firefox on disc, so I installed it and ran housecall. Machine was full of adware that was undetected by most of the free stuff talked about in this group for the last couple of years. IE is now back and running great. Thanks again.......lohlson
