I have received the same message before when I was installing another progra,. I think the problem is in the system (windows 2000) and u can't install any other program depends on Autoexec.NT.
When I havre replaced (just copy and paste) the file from a working PC, I was able to install the program sucessfully.
So, copy the file from a Working PC and paste it in ur Pc, I think it will work

u have to use the expand command in windows XP & 2000
the command is expand whereever u 1386 folder is 
expand d:i386autoexec.nt_
c:windowssystem32autoexec.exe

it will work
as the autoexec.exe file might been corrupt
