Hi Sammi,
Welcome to our message board, you are among friends. As far as problems with medications I have weird reactions to most meds. I am in the middle, actually fairly near the beginning, of telling my story of survival and the tools I have adapted to help me with my ongoing struggle. Doctors refuse to treat me because I refuse meds. The saga can be found in recent ppostings on our board and I should add another installment sometime today.
May you find serenity as you need it and a soft place to lie your head for relief.
Mr. Ben Z.

When on medication it is always a type of guessing game ~ BUT when you find the right ones, BINGO you are SET
Dealing with Major Depression and Psychotic Episodes due to Marijuana useage to deal with being Abused at 9 years of age
I have been on many types of Drugs since 1993 when I was first Diagnosed.
I know it ain't easy, ESPECIALLY WITH LITTLIES ~ IT IS POSSIBLE to get the balance right.
LEARN TO LISTEN to what your body is telling you and WRITE them down for your DOCTORS to deal with
They will then be able to IDENTIFY through their medical books as to the medication you then SHOULD be taking.
Research, if you are that way inclined and seeking advice from ALL SOURCES is HIGHLY VALUABLE, as you can then get your head around all the medical mumbo jumbo that YOU DON"T understand.
As Mr Ben Z ( A TRUE SURVIVOR OF ABUSE) continues to let you and many others be aware of - which is ...
' MOVE FORWARD ... SMALL STEPS ... SEEK HELP from ALL SOURCES ... to HELP YOU HELP YOURSELF39;
TIPS - SEARCH the INTERNET for BIPOLAR ~ read WHEN you have TIME (sif have time with kids)
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER ~ ASK QUESTIONS - LOTS OF QUESTIONS of your DOCTORS
We are all here for you Sammi - you have made HUGE STEPS as you know what you SUFFER from... now is the time to MOVE FORWARD by SEEKING, LISTENING TO YOUR BODY and ASKING others... and continue to enjoy your two children and your life
~ THINK ABOUT IT ... DO IT ... DO IT ~

The problem with all the meds is i am an insulin dependant
diabetic
and an epileptic and all the meds i am already on are being
stuffed up
(sorry about the wording) the meds like serequal i was
waking up like
i had drunk a bottle of scotch the night before and hadn't
touched a
drop LOL.
Falling asleep at the dinner table (literally) and staying
awake all
night, i can't fuction like this. All the meds i have tried
so far
have given me the same effect.... i have spoken to my
pdoctor and he
said i just had to give them a chance. i just feel angry
that i have
to have help looking after my children because the doctors
won't
listen to what i am saying. it's so frustrating.
My 4 year old asked me the other day "why do you sleep
so much mummy?"
all i could say was mummy is tired sweetheart and all she
wanted to do
was play. my hubby tried to play with her and she said she
wanted
mummy to play it's hard to make her understand i see how
upset she
gets and it makes me worse..
i know i will get there but just watching her grow up in
front of my
eyes whilst i'm too tired to be awake when she is. it's
hard.

hi
i am new to this group
have some catching up to do
my name is suhni [sunny]
i have only been on meds for bipolar 3 years
lots of the side effects you mentioned wore off after a few
weeks
i am lucky i have a very intuitive & caring dr who
listens carefully
to my concerns
you didnt mention what & how much you are taking
in my case my dr figured out i seem to react quite strongly
to small
dosages
we have also experimented with scattering the pills thru out
the day
to test the side effects

Hey Ben,
I have to say I had a bit of a deja vu when I read about
your sister
wanting you to 'come back into the fold'. My days of
fundamentalist
Christianity have thankfully been replaced with what I
believe to
be......healthy rationalistic skepticism. I have gone from
being a
devout Christian to exploring some fascinating alternatives.
I began
looking at our human psyche through the science of
Psychoanalytic
Anthropology, Palaeolithic Archaeology and Evolutionary
Cognitive
Psychology. I spent so much of my life limiting my
possibilities
through fear and prejudice and trying hard to please people
whose
intentions were to control the way that I thought.
Unfortunately,
this was the only way that I knew. Learning in depth about
human
beings and their incredible journey to the present has led
me to the
conclusion that we are all so wonderfully unique, resilient
and
special. I have developed a much deeper compassion for all
people and
prefer to marvel at the variations than attempt to change
them. I have
a child with Aspberger syndrome. This has also assisted me
to be more
accepting of our uniqueness, and that rather than change who
he is, I
wonder at the things he can contribute. I believe the
tapestry that is
life, comes in many colors and textures and that eliminating
some
because they don't quite conform or 'fit the square', makes
the
tapestry boring! I went through a period of time when the
demands of
my family to 'come back to Jesus' filled me with anger and
dread. This
has now been tempered by my newfound realization that I cant
change
the way that they think, I can only feel saddened by the
fears that
imprison their potential and spontaneity.
Ben, your letters imply that you have discovered something
that others
remain blinded to........the random wonder of the
universe!!! Really
so simple....yet so profound!!!

Dear Chili,
I'm so glad to hear that someone else actually gets it. Let's talk som more, but sorry I won't be as responsive (hopefully just this week) as I am at a new sight filling in while people are on vacation.
