TiddlyWiki as a hierarchical outliner?

I was wondering if anyone has explored adapting TiddlyWiki
to work
more like an outliner.

With the way my brain works, I think I need a one-pane
outliner, and
that's why I was intrigued when Jeremy Ruston mentioned on
his blog
that a hierarchical outliner like ThinkFold could have been
done with
TiddlyWiki.

TiddlyWiki is great for organizing fragments; its powerful
features
kick in when you have many tiddlers.

But a one-pane outliner is, for me at least, the more
suitable tool
for producing long structured documents like essays and
stories.
Instead of adding new fragments to the heap, working with an
outliner
is more like fleshing out a skeleton. With an outliner, that
skeleton-
the overall structure of a document- is always explicit, but
at the
same time easily modifiable (just by dragging and dropping
the main
headings).

Clicking on a WikiWord in TiddlyWiki opens up a new Tiddler
Window,
which ends up tearing my attention away from the original
context.

I'm easily distracted so it's helpful for me to have, as in
the case
of the single-pane collapsible outliner, child nodes
expanding in
place.

I don't have the programming skills to contribute code
myself, but I
would be very happy if somebody would come up with an open,
browser-
based outliner with a development model like TiddlyWiki's--
maybe as a
TiddlyWiki adaptation?

I would certainly contribute to such a project in other
(non-coding)
ways, like writing tutorials and FAQs and just promoting the
idea in
general.

if anyone is interested in an example of a collapsible
hierarchical
outline, I've made an outline detailing these ideas at http://ulyart.ijot.net

Thanks!

Dude,

You, like, so, like, have to, like, yaknow, do this. Bring
on an
OutliningPlugin with decent documentation of usage.

Hurley from Lost

p.s. from alter ego Dave Gifford: I have had to settle for
this
approach: (http://www.giffmex.org/dbn/davesnotesoneverything.html
),
which is nice, but would much rather have what you are
doing. So I
concur with Hurley

Hi,
i am not sure if I understood you, but try the slider macro. I does what you want ( at least as I under stand you)

instead of
[[TiddlerName]]
use
<<slider chkTiddlerName TiddlerName TiddlerName>>
That should full fill your wishes

Hi Simon
I've looked at exactly the same ones.
I've even starten to hack the one from decafab into the
tiddlywiki
code but failed because of my too crude understanding of
the
tiddlywiki code and mainly lack of time.
with the help from this group i could probuably have done
it, so i
might try it again someday when my schedule is not as
thight as it is
now...

I'm also reminded about what kind of outliner are we talking
about? Is
it an outliner ''within'' a tiddler, or is it an outliner
composed of
all related tiddlers, through the hierachy already built by
tags?

This is an interesting question. My first guess is that each are useful but they are two separate projects.

Simon.
