| VisualTW in TiddlyWiki 2.2.5 |
  United States |
2007-09-27 01:33:05 |
Hi,
now I tried several houres to get the Wysiwyg plugin from
VisualTW to
work in my TW. I have a "normal" TW 2.2.5 with
lots of plugins. But
even with an empty TW I could not get the Wysiwyg plugin to
work.
Anyone with the same problems?
Thanks
Markus

Hi Markus,
Yes, it also took me some hours.
Make sure you read the installations instructions on
VisualTW very
carefully.
There is a thread about unsurmountable installation
difficulties from
not to long ago in this group. So if you didn't made a
mistake in your
installation, maybe you will find an answer to your question
there ? -
worth checking out with the search function of this group.

probably that one is meant: "Is there a simpler Word to
TW
converter?"

Tanks for that links. Now only the message "error
loading
file://tmp/fckeditor/editor/plugins/rtSpellCheck/fckplugin.j
s" - that
seems to be an error. After "file:" there have to
follow three slashes
or doesn't it?

Depends on the OS and browser - but generally you're right.
The third slash indicates the root directory, so on Windows
systems you
need to add the drive letter:
file:///C:/tmp/fckeditor/editor/plugins/rtSpellCheck/fckplug
in.js

when exactly do you get the error message - does fckeditor
work?
I can't find that directory "rtSpellCheck" -
probably new?
Did you follow to place a relative link into MarkupPreHead?
I'd guess
if the error message comes with a wrong path - it's already
wrong in
the config somewhere.

I tried again - this time with MS-Windows. It work perfect
with just
the documentation from the VisualTW site. I think it has to
be a
FCKeditor error on linux.
Anyone with VisualTW up and running under linux?

sorry, due to some hardware upgrades I currently don't have
my Ubuntu
box available - but I am pretty sure that it has to do with
file paths
(like mentioned above). Probably someone else could help out
here.
What also might be of some help is to download the online
demo - runs
on Linux, too ;)

I downloaded the online demo and install it on a usb drive.
On Windows
it works fine with just the manual on the VisualTW site. The
I start
linux and try to run the same VIsualTW Demo from teh same
usb drive -
with the same "error loading
file://tmp/fckeditor/editor/plugins/rtSpellCheck/fckplugin.j
s"
message. With the standard Tiddlywiki I could live under
both systems
and switch without a problem.
Any ideas?

You're right. There is a problem with FCKeditor and slashes
on linux.
On Ubuntu (Gnome), local files open with a three slashes URL
(like
file:///media/USB ...) instead of four. And FCKeditor
doesn't like
it ! You have to edit URL and add the fourth slash...
(An other know bug of fckEditor is that it doesn't accept
path with a
space).
It seems there are several bugs with this Wysiwyg editor. As
you can
see, the TW plugin is rather short. It can be adapted to
other Wysiwyg
editors. Dojo toolkit editor doesn't fit well. But TinyMCE
is not bad
(but has its own bugs...).In a future releases of visualTW,
I will try
to make it easier to install.

Pascal

open fckeditor.html (editor folder), it doesn't works. The
URL use three slashes. Then, add a forth slash, and it works
!
