I notice that when i connect my linux trac server to my AD
server,
trac-admin will recognize users, but not groups, when
assigning
permissions. I can assign j.patota to TRAC_ADMIN, but not
serverAdmins.

I understand a layer of abstraction exists, so I can
theoretically
create special trac groups and assign serverAdmins to it as a
best
practice, but from all the poking around and nagging ive
done, this
seems only possible with the ldap plugin available from
trac-hacks.

I realize my syntax is of the ldap nature, and of course
trac doesn't
natively understand serverAdmins, but i referred to it making
a
point.

My question is, first to confirm that trac-admin recognizes
AD users
and not groups, and to ask why this is the case? Is this by
design, or
just on a nice todo list? Is it easy enough to implement or
hack?

Thanks

John

You would need the UnixGroups plugin from trac-hacks. (or
some other
provider)
