I do not think that it is a bug that certain implementations
of XConnection fail
to support multiple calls to connect.  (As you say, the
workaround is simple,
just create a new XConnection.)  However, I will update the
UNOIDL documentation
of com.sun.star.connection.XConnection accordingly.
