I can confirm that this can be fixed by applying workaround
suggested in

://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/99538...

which is :

Can you guys please temporarily move away
/usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/10-storage-policy.fdi,
then reboot
and check if it works then? If so, then bug 63090 would be
the root
cause.
