reporting bugs: malone or upstream

What is appropriate place to submit a bug found in a package
[1]
included in Ubuntu: Malone or upstream?

i.e I've found a bug in evolution, bug present also in
evolution
packages from other distros, so it's not a ubuntu specific
bug.

>From a user standpoint, it would be easier for me to
watch/use a single
bug tracker than several.

[1] by "package" I mean "application"
