X-Window

Hi

I have kubuntu running. It worked fine for a day and then
when I  
logged back in the next day, the screen is showing a weird
series of  
colours in lines and also text is fairly messed up. It is
almost  
readable. I tried running system-config-display from a
console but it  
is not recognised. Is there anyway I can sort this out
please?
