Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

I had a working wireless network connection using WPA I took
the upgrade
to

 network-manager_0.6.4-6ubuntu5_i386.deb

and I could not get the wireless working at all so I down
graded to

 network-manager_0.6.4-6ubuntu4_i386.deb

and all the network came back

This sounds like it could be the one we are talking about on
the bug
report "network-manager does not detect network"

Binary package hint: network-manager

If I click on the willow on ESSID in network-manager on
Dapper with
Gnome 2.14 I cut see the availabele networks but I can't
this in Edgy
with Gnome 2.16

The list of available wireless networks (ESSID) is always
empty, or only
contains the network you are connected to. No relevant
messages appear
to show up in /var/log/syslog. Running network-admin from
the shell
doesn't produce any mesages either.

I have the same problem after installing this update. I'm
using Intel wireless chip (ipw2100).
I've also updated via update manager to ubuntu7, but the
problem continues - that my wireless network (and my
neighbours') are completely missing in NM.

One point that's worth a mention is that I'm using a
static/manual
configuration configured through network manager. If I
change my
wireless device to use "roaming mode" instead, my
wireless networks come
back and I'm able to connect, albeit via DHCP. As soon as I
change back
to my static profile, it disappears again.

Is everyone able to confirm this problem only happens with a
manually
configured IP?

Confirmed I also have a Intel Wireless (ipw2100) and have
setup a manual
IP.

When set to roaming I can see the wireless network but I
don't get an IP
address.

Would one or both of you please include the contents of
/etc/network/interfaces in a comment on this bug.
