Did you know that there is a petition to "Save XP"
from the
Microsoft-imposed general retail/OEM end-of-sale date of
June 30?
(not that you're likely to see any OEM XP boxes in retail
outlets
these days though; even back at Christmas-time I went and
spoke to
employees at a computer store and while there was
significant demand
for XP, there were ZERO XP systems for sale.)
The petition has >100K signatures.

Skim through the comments on that post (which mentions the
latest numbers)...
note how frequently Vista is mentioned (and in a bad way).
note how frequently Ubuntu is mentioned (and in a good
way).
Three days after June 30...
July 3: "Ubuntu 8.04.1" as per
https://
wiki.ubuntu.com/HardyReleaseSchedule
Wubi will be a super-nice touch; they can dual-boot to get
used to
Linux and so when they're ready to retire XP they can avoid
Vista
altogether!
