Thread: Machine name: localhost

In /var/log/syslog and elsewhere, I see the default name
"localhost"
where my machine's name should appear. I'm not sure where
this is
coming from; I did name the machine when I installed ubuntu,
and I see
the machine's name (pereiro) in some places, including
/etc/hostname.

I was just ignoring it, but now it's become a problem.
When sending
through a different SMTP server than I use at home, my mails
are
getting rejected (see enclosed). How can I fix this
problem?

Thanks in advance!

localhost is a standard name. You want it in there. What are
you using
to send the email? It looks like (from above) that you're
using emacs,
is that correct?
