Unfortunately, there are a few gotchas when using wireless
chipsets
under Linux. Some wireless chipsets are extremely well
supported, like
Atheros, Prism54 and Centrino, but there are others which
require
hacks.
If you have an Atheros, Prism or Centrino-based chipset,
wireless
should work out of the box. IYou should install
network-manager and
network-manager-gnome packages using apt-get.
If you are using a problematic wireless chipset, like SMC or
some (if
not all) Broadcom, you will need to use a software called
ndiswrapper
that, in turn, allows you tu use Winblows NDIS drivers under
Linux.
The setup is a little bit more complicated. Some time ago, I
