Is it me?

Is it me, or is this crazy? I've just tried doing an online
questionnaire
on a site I regularly visit for this purpose (at least once
a day), and I
receive a message saying I can't do the questionnaire
because I'm using the
wrong browser. If I make my Opera ID as IE6, everything will
be all right,
they say. Surely if they can see I'm using Opera IDing as
something other
than IE6, they ought to be clever enough to allow Opera to
ID as something
else? Or is my understanding of this whole problem simply
too deficient?

Yahoo mail beta -- well into the beta stage, now tells me
for the
first time that my browser isn't supported. I will of couse
give them
a piece of my mind but I doubt it matters.

Meanwhile, my.yahoo.com (news/web portal) has stopped
updating news
stories whether I use Opera or Firefox. Anybody else having
this
issue? So this isn't an Opera issue but I'm curious
whether it's
happening for others.

Yahoo's personalized pages will from time-to-time fail to
update. This is
sometimes a problem with the content provider and sometimes
with Yahoo. It
is not an issue that is directly related to Opera.

Yahoo does not fully support Opera. If you load the main My
Yahoo page
using Opera you get a limited set of the service features.

One of Opera's more "hidden" features is it's
ability to COMPLETELY mask
itself as IE or FF. If you go to http://showip.net you'll see
that even
with Opera set to mask itself as IE or FF it still says
it's Opera at the
beginning of it's user agent string, which is helpful for
browser sniffers
that are set to only accept IE and FF. If the site has
SPECIFICALLY
blocked Opera in its browser sniffer though, heavier masking
is needed,
which Opera can provide but like I said at the beginning of
this, that
ability is more hidden. You can download Opera Tools though
at
http://w
ww.diplo.co.uk/design/operatools.php , which adds an
option in the
right click menu to change your user agent string to
completely mask
itself as IE or FF. Hope this helps.
