user problems

 Good afternoon list,      

 Using Opera 8, suddenly it starts behaving strange: it
doesn't run
 anymore or it get's locked and in both cases i get an
error: another
 user is using opera. But my sytem is set up for only one
user.
 Anybody has a clue what's going on?

I've seen this happen when I tried to open Opera and it took
a while to  
open, so I double-clicked the icon again thinking I may not
have  
double-clicked quickly enough the first time.
