rpmbuild environment issues for xen guest?

This report has an x86_64 Xen guest where _libdir is
expanding to 
/usr/lib; perhaps /etc/rpm/platform needs to be set up by
the Xen 
guest-creating scripts?  Is this a known issue?

Paul, if you do:

echo x86_64-redhat-linux > /etc/rpm/platform

does that fix the problem?
