Salt Lake City Asterisk Boot Camp Interest.

   I've asked New Horizons if they would be willing to host
an
Asterisk Boot Camp here in Salt Lake City.  I told them I
would let
Utaug know about this and let them know the interest level
for such an
event.  Digium has already been contacted and shows interest
in doing
this.  The cost would probably be the standard $3,000 that
they charge
for other boot camps.  Let me know if you would be
interested.

First, in the interest of full disclosure, I work for Sokol
&
Associates, and we're the largest training partner that
Digium has.
In fact, if you were to get Digium to give the class, we'd
probably be
the ones to teach it.  And since I'm a former Utahn, I'd
probably be
the one to teach it.  So, sign up all your friends so I can
make it
back to Utah to teach a class out that direction. 

In all seriousness though, if you don't get enough people to
put on an
entire bootcamp, you might be able to pool your money and
come up with
enough to get the company to send me out that direction for
a
"private" training.  It all depends on how many
people you can get
interested in the class.  Do you have any idea yet as far as
the
number of people that would be willing to take the class? 
I'm hoping
to come out in September for the Utah Open Source 
Conference... maybe
we could lean towards scheduling the class the week before
or after
that, and kill two birds with one plane ticket.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents (before taxes).  I know return you
to your
regularly scheduled dialplan programming.

I don't have a firm number on how many people are planning
on taking
the class.  So far it looks like maybe 4.  Hopefully some
more people
show interest.  September sounds like a good time for me. 
Anyone else
have an opinion?

Brandon at
New Horizons 952-4313 so he can put you on the list.  This
list is
just so when we talk to Digium they can give them an idea as
to how
many people might be coming.  By the way I have no
affiliation with
New Horizons other then I've taken some classes there in the
past and
the keep call me.

   I just got word the Digium has agreed to come to Salt
Lake City to
do training in October.  They were surprised that they never
had been
out here.  The final date in October should be selected soon
and we
should see some sort of announcement on there website.  If
you would
like to attend this boot camp and have not already done so,
please
contact Brandon at New Horizons at 952-4313.  He can give
you all the
details.

time to let
everyone know that I'm now a Digium employee 

I'm the new Community Relations Manager for Digium, so it's
my job to
take care of the Asterisk community (including users groups
like this
one) by helping out any way I can.  If there's something you
don't
think Digium is addressing or have questions or concerns,
let me know
and I'll do my best to push the right buttons inside of
Digium.  I'll
also continue to teach the Asterisk Bootcamp classes for
Digium, so
hopefully I'll see you all in October!

Has anyone taken the Certified Asterisk Professional exam?
Is it
something worth the effort/money? I don't have all the
dialplan
functions or config file variables on the top of my head;
how much
would I need that for the exam?
