To meet our expectations and service levels for application development and defect resolution, this position requires a highly motivated individual that can manage changing priorities in our dynamic and fast-paced environment. Position focus is on front end, but ability to work on all tiers is a plus. Candidate must exhibit excellent written and verbal communication. Ability to discuss business requirements and articulate technical concepts in simple terms is an absolute necessity. This is a critical position for our company that has grown very rapidly due to our web-based applications.

Application Design and Development: Participate in technical design and development of applications.

* Work independently and with a team of developers to architect, design, develop and implement world-class applications

* Create technical design and documentation specifications

* Work with other functions, e.g. QA, Customer Support, etc. to develop unit test, system test, acceptance test, and documentation.

Team Player: Work with software engineering, support staff, and business partners to ensure that technology solutions are high quality and follow the technology standards.

* Collaborate with subject matter experts and technical staff to ensure business and technology solution strategies are understood and applied

* Participate in code reviews by the software engineering staff

* Review test plans, procedures and results

* Ensure solutions meet business requirements

Production Support: Provide analysis and troubleshooting support of production applications to identify and resolve defects and any other factors that influence system performance, availability, and reliability.

* Identify root cause of application defects and thoroughly develop, review and test changes to ensure proper performance

* Profile applications to address performance issues and resolve

* Provide on-call support for production applications as required

Technical Qualifications: Qualified candidates will design and implement components within our existing J2EE framework and will bring a firm understanding of J2EE technologies and best practices to the team. The ideal candidate will combine strong experience in developing J2EE solutions with a deep understanding of common open source frameworks (such as Struts, Spring, Hibernate).

* Demonstrated experience developing Struts application framework is required. Ideal candidates will be able to break down detailed components of the Struts framework, and demonstrate a thorough understanding of struts localization.

* Exhibit a deep understanding of J2EE including knowledge of EJB's, JSP, XML parsing and manipulation, JMS/MQSeries messaging, thread management, application server clustering, session management and resource caching.

* Candidate must have experience working in high-volume user environments where scalability is a primary concern.

* Exhibit proficiency with development tools such as Eclipse, Weblogic and Oracle. Candidate must be proficient in configuring a standard J2EE application container and must be able to quickly familiarize themselves with the application environment.

* Display a thorough understanding of relational database technologies including SQL, JDBC and normalization.
