I have had a few problems with .net and context menus.

The best way is to add the menu information directly to the contextmenu.

In .net v3 it becomes a nightmare as simply updating a contextmenu fails big time.
.net v3 forces me to start a new context menu every time.
Hopefully this will be fixed in Vista sp1.

Also, there appears to be a huge delay in the context menu being displayed in .net v3.
This has been fixed in Vista SP1.

If only things worked first time.................................

Subject: [Visual Basic 6 programming] .NET Menu Items Question

Folks,

I am baffled at this problem at hand. I have a menu item with sub items
under it. I want to make that menu item available to a context menu.

I used the ContextMenuStrip. Items.Add( ToolStripMenuIte m1)
It added it find to the context menu strip. Yet, It removed it from the menu
Format which it resides under. When I removed the line above from my code
the Format menu worked and everything under it was there.

So in other words, the menu items were assigned to the context menu and no
longer to the format menu. Shouldn't I be able to share them between the
two?

NP,

Yeah, I noticed that. I was able to make it work but you have to press Alt +
F for the format menu twice before it loads the menu items underneath it if
you previously opened the context menu. I am thinking of just adding them to
the context menu in design time.
