Thread: Running VB6 Programs on Other Computers

Running VB6 Programs on Other Computers

I've run into one problem several times and don't have any
clue as to
what to do to correct the problem. I create a program at
home and get
it to work the way I want. Then I take it to work and it
won't work.
The problem relates to ADO. I'll use an ADO Data Control to
connect
to an MS Access database. I do know that I need to insure
that the
correct reference to ADO ActiveX Objects is taken care of.
But when I
try to run the program at work (in the same VB6
environment), I get
the strange error

"[ADODC] : Unknown error. [ADO] : "

Another thing. When I go to the ADODC object and try to
modify the
connection string, I can't seem to change it. I know the
path won't
be the same on two different PCs, but I should be able to
change
that. If I click on the "Build" button so I can
change the path to
the MS Access database, nothing happens. I can manually type
the
correct path in the text box, but I can't connect to the
database
using this technique.

I'm hoping that someone else has run into this same problem
and has
found a solution to it. I'd very much appreciate any
suggestions that
anyone might have.

Best regards,

Jim
