Software Engineer
Job Description
Candidate will develop a data store adapter and
transformation prototype as a member of the
development team. Will participate in architecture and
software development activities that may include
specification and development of technical interfaces
and design architectures, and translation of
requirements into specifications. Candidate will also
be responsible for developing and delivering software
prototype that integrates with existing middleware in
a BEA WebLogic environment, participation in the
testing of the prototype, analyzing, designing, and
developing software-based solutions meeting business
needs, support existing applications, handle complex
application features and technical designs, handle
multiple development projects concurrently, and
system/software engineering support to TTO as needed.
Candidate should have worked with the following
technologies & protocols: J2EE, EJB, BEA WebLogic,
Eclipse, CVS, Java IO/NIO, Java patterns, Java
security, Java XML parsing (DOM, SAX), JMS,
Multi-threaded applications, JNDI, Log4J logging,
JDBC, UQL, SQL, MetaMatrix, Hibernate, Spring, Java
Server Faces or Struts, RMI, SOAP/XML RPC, Servlets &
JSPs, and XML Developer. Should also have familiarity
with software development lifecycle process, concepts
of application design, and a variety of programming
languages/concepts. Candidate should have experience
as a software engineer supporting software
architecture development, requirement analysis,
process execution and evaluation, selection and
evaluation of COTS/GOTS tools, and integration (with
both new and existing systems) supporting Government
or Industry customers. Competencies The following
competencies are preferred for this position: IT
Architectural Knowledge - Knowledge of IT
architectural concepts, principles, standards, tools,
techniques, and methodologies; Software
Engineering/Syst Anly - Knowledge of software systems
analysis process interaction (e.g., Classical
Analysis, Object -Oriented Analysis), including
gathering and analyzing requirements, modeling data
and functions, and verifying data/function; Software
Engineering - Knowledge of software engineering,
including all phases of the software lifecycle;
Customer Domain - Knowledge of customer domain
including tools, processes, techniques, and
applications, and Customer Satisfaction - Builds
long-term relationships with internal and external
customers by understanding their current and future
needs; meeting commitments to customers on time and
keeping them informed; seeks and uses customer
feedback.
Education Prefer bachelor of science in computer
science or related technical discipline and at least
at least 13 years' related experience, or equivalent
with approval of skill team.
