What about the obvious... Can you do the first pass while
sitting
on site; then bring the drive back to the Batcave and update
it
over the network?

Most customers get visited in the beginning..

Yeah, I covered this in the presentation. If you can, use
the fastest
bandwidth available. Often our servers are in data centers,
and we
can't take them to the customer. It usually doesn't
matter if an entire
offsite snapshot doesn't exist for a day or two.

Eric.

Hail and well met,

I'd never been to a Linux User's Group meeting before this
past
Wednesday. Even though I've been using various *nix flavors
for years
I always feel a bit intimdated when surrounded by a roomfull
of other
computer folks.

Eric, I enjoyed the presentation (easygoing delivery, enough
information
to get started but not a numbing deluge of obscure details).
 I'm not
sure when or if I'll be able to put dirvish to use, but now
I have a
little flag for it in my brain.

Thank you Tom, Kent, Tino, and Cassia for being extra
welcoming.

Tom: Hang in there. I never did get that couple fingers of
whiskey.

And (forgive me for forgetting your name) but to the fellow
working
on the Knoppix problem during dinner, how has your quest
come along?

William

Hopefully you felt comfortable with this group. It really is
a friendly
bunch and can be quite welcoming and supportive.

Many, even most, of the presentations are of a similar
nature. If you
enjoyed the last, you'll probably find future meetings
worth attending
as well.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to introduce myself and chat.
(I'm the Eric
who hosted, not the Eric who presented.) Hope to see you
again in the
future.
