Is the concept of *.bat files obsolete under windows? I just
installed an
MSDOS program that can be executed with *.bat files to
access certain DB
files and find that they don't work?

Any comments!

TIA

Batch files and older programs will work under both Windows
2000 and Windows
XP. However, some of these older programs need to be run
under compatibility
mode. Assuming you are running W2K (since this is a W2K
forum), do a Google
on W2K compatibility mode. There is procedure (simple but I
can't remember
the steps) to go through to add the Compatibility Mode tab
to the shortcut
properties.
